[Fall/Winter New York 2011] Doo.Ri

Doo-Ri Chung was certainly not one of the flashy designers who use loud print fabrics or to die for beading. She uses old fashion draping. From what I see, she mainly uses neutral colored fabrics (sometimes deep colors) & stretch fabrics so that she can achieve that effect.

<3!!!!!!!

So inspiring to learn more draping! :) She is one of the minimalist designers that I admire in terms of designs and aesthetics. I can’t wait for the next collection!

[Fall/Winter New York 2011] Victoria Beckham

This collection by Victoria Beckham is a breath of fresh air as she presented pieces that are loose-fitting. She used soft fabrics just in time for her baby bump.

And let me quote Style.Com: “Continuing in the relaxed vein, she showed a few outfits that looked like draped cashmere shawls belted over fitted pencil skirts. But it was an illusion: They were in fact trompe l’oeil dresses, and great-looking too. “

I would wear this when I'm in NY :)

gorgeous draping!

simple yet gorgeous!

Ever since Beckham entered the fashion industry as a designer, I was doubtful of her talent because, some people, do get in the industry just because they dress really well or they have inside connections. But as time passes by, I can see that she has a whole lot of talent. Her designs started from form fitting pieces (that only her body type can wear) then moving forward to other body types. I love that all her pieces are fuss free and straight forward.

[Fall/Winter New York RTW 2011] Rachel Zoe

I never knew that Rachel Zoe designs now. From the looks of her designs, she has everything from rock & roll, vintage, romance, among others.

I like the pants

this is the best seller according to style.com

I think Rachel is a great stylist. I admire her fashion sense and she can really see things in a different perspective. I think she is one of the most successful stylists in the world. But, in my opinion, her collection is nothing new. I mean, I like it but I can see these garments anywhere (Zara, for instance).

Imitation VS. Inspiration

So I went to a store in Glorietta hoping to find some high waist wide leg trousers. Then, I went to this store I used to shop when I was in high school (to bring back memories? haha). Browsing through the racks, I saw this! And I just had to take a picture of it.

So who’s who? I mean who’s the original and the copy cat? I don’t want to pinpoint but I’ve had the beige jacket since 2010 from H&M. I also heard some stories that this store have knock offs even before. I tried it on and its pretty nice, like you can wear it alone with your bra. But the sleeves were kinda tight. I would’ve bought it if it wasn’t a copy.

Okay okay, Copying is indeed inevitable but my thoughts on it especially in the fashion industry: can you at least tweak it? I mean it’s understandable if you’re an RTW company (since you have to make versions that will suit your target market’s budget), but if you’re a designer? It’s the ultimate social suicide. I’ve seen A LOT of designers you thought have great designs but it’s just copied or tweaked A LITTLE BIT. It’s rather disappointing because it degrades “fashion”. And if repeated, it does piss me off.

You can get inspired but be sure to know the difference between INSPIRATION & IMITATION.

Just saying.

H&M’s Conscious Collection

Last year, H&M released a collection entitled “The Garden Collection” which makes use of sustainable fabrics. This year, the RTW giant launches its new collection – “Conscious Collection”.

According to the press release, “The collection which is for women, men and children is made from enviromentally – adapted and greener materials such as organic cotton, Tencel® and recycled polyester. H&M’s designers have been inspired by different shades of white, one of the most important colours this Spring. A minimalist, tailored look is combined with romantic lace, Broderie Anglaise, frills and draping. The Conscious Collection will be on sale in all H&M stores from 14th April.”

The look of the entire collection is so romantic (especially for the women) and inserted the key trend for spring - Broderie Anglaise. As for the men, they made it all preppy and pretty.

It’s mostly tiered and whites and clean! :) I love it it’s so fresh and breezy. Makes me wish that we have H&M here in Manila.

021111 – The Dress That Shocked Them All

I was supposed to go to St. Paul College Pasig fair but talked to my friend and there was a “dress code” even if you’re not a student. Baka hindi pa ko papasukin kakahiya lol! So instead of buying a garment, I just went home and maybe I can go tomorrow right? But I found out something that made me all frustrated that I wish I just bought that outfit and went to the fair. It’s really not meant to be :( (

This is my shocking outfit for today:

slashed dress: Eairth
black spaghetti top: Greenhills
belt: Vintage
black shorts: People Are People
sandals: Charles & Keith
bangles: H&M

My tita gave me this dress and it was just to die for. I love it! :) Although it’s huge, so I have to put on the belt or else I would look like a hobo. The dress is below my knee.

I got strange looks from people (which was fine by me) but saw this group of girls laughing.. I just raised my eyebrow. LOL :) Well, yeah the outfit is a major attention hogger. Some Filipinos can’t handle this kind of dressing.

Is this too shocking for you? :)
